A Walk Down Memory Lane

I recently cleaned out my home office and found the manuscript of a memoir novella I curated back in 2011. I never publically shared it except on Wattpad.com (and if my memory serves me, Mibba.com as well). Not too long after, I took it down after feelings of docility.

After reading through the manuscript, some substantial reflection and light editing, it is now back online only on Wattpad.com. This time as a second edition with the addition of an epilogue from today’s perspective, as an adult.

Back in 2011, I was 17-18 years old. I had written this memoir novella curating prose, poetry, dreamscapes, quotes, letter writing, and journaling from my high school years as a means of healing and moving on to the next chapter of my life—college.

Reading it back now in 2019, as I turn 26 in one month, has allowed me the privilege of nostalgia and wisdom towards my teenage self. Now, I’m not going to get sentimental here or share the woes and tribulations that is the arduous dating life of a woman in her twenties, but I will share the amazement I felt reading this manuscript has reminded me of the feelings of infatuation that I so miss in my current life.

That being said, I’m excited to share this memoir novella with you all along with the additional epilogue from my perspective of the story of Jennifer and Tyler today.

Without further ado, let me introduce to you, “I Wanna Touch You: A Second Edition Memoir Novella” by yours truly, Jennifer Gioia.

As a final note, can I just say how relieved I am that I’m still happy with the title originally chosen back in 2011. Any other writers out there know how difficult hindsight can sow seeds of doubt.

With regular updates every Sunday, you can read “I Wanna Touch You” here.
